Guardian Connect – Three Things I’ve learnt

Always having to anticipate bloody sugar levels becomes an hourly occurrence. Judging by the way you feel, if you are going high or low and curbing your nutrition with the main goal of stabilising your levels. Being diagnosed late in life, the ritual of pin pricking multiple times a day quickly became a tedious chore which I soon tried to reject.

Then came Guardian Connect. A life changer! I’m a bloke and this means I would easily forget to check my blood sugar levels, or be too tired or more likely be so busy. I needed a better way to manage my T1D. This is when I was introduced to Guardian Connect, which now has me covered in more ways than one.

  1. Levels at a glance Using Guardian Connect allows me to check my levels at any time I choose. I can correct at my own convenience without having to pin prick. I can track my daily trends which mean I can see if it’s heading up or heading down. I could never do that before.
  2. Alerts before lows The biggest win is when I’m exercising. I used to suffer from hypo’s in the gym. Now I can easily see my levels before and during a workout and I can catch a hypo before it happens. Even after a workout my levels can drop fast. This allows me to have a 24/7 transparent view of what’s going on. Now I have regular stable blood sugar levels which are great for my health.
  3. Stress less These days, I don’t stress about managing my levels. In fact I’m so much better off because it doesn’t rule my day having to pin prick all the time. A quick glance at my smart phone or notifications on my smart watch and I have all the info I need.

I don’t think I could ever manage my T1D this well without the help of Guardian Connect. If you have T1D and struggle with daily fluctuating levels then you need to give GC a try. It can change the way you manage everything. I don’t want T1D to rule my life. I have found the solution.
