Life First. Diabetes Second - Brent

When Medtronic approached me and told me about the MiniMed 770G, it was a YES YES YES…. Oh, did I say it was a big fat YES from me?!

Technology is becoming a big part of our lives and in some cases a new normal for many. As a nurse working in a digital hospital, I am no stranger to how technology has been able to help advance the care of people that we treat. When Medtronic approached me and told me the MiniMed 770G would be able to connect to a mobile phone, I was super excited! I was thinking of the all possibilities and opportunities it would open for people living with type 1 diabetes.

The biggest benefit for me having the MiniMed 770G and the mobile phone app has been accessibility of my own data. Being able to see all your important information in one clear screen means I can spend less time worrying about diabetes and is able to help me make quicker, better decisions with my diabetes. As a nurse, this has been a HUGE benefit for me since I am always on the go in my spare time and live life to the fullest! It also gives my work colleagues peace of mind knowing I have all the best tools at my disposal to be as healthy as I can be.  If you have times you want to be discrete about your diabetes, that’s fine too! Looking at your phone is very low key compared to looking at an insulin pump.

One of the perks of the MiniMed 770G being connected to a mobile phone is automatic uploads to the cloud. Hands up anyone that dreads the task of uploading your pump and CGM data every couple of weeks. The MiniMed Mobile app that connects to the MiniMed 770G automatically uploads all your pump data to CareLink. No more separate dongles!
Uploading data via the app also allows you to see the same insulin pump and CGM information as you see on your phone in real time for times when you can’t pull out your mobile phone. This is perfect for me working as a nurse as I can pull up my insulin pump screen on my computer and can check in-between seeing my patients.

Having the MiniMed 770G on my side means I can continue living by my favourite saying – Life First. Diabetes Second.
